Brady Visual Workplace for Lean EnterprisesIdeas, Best Practices & Solutions |
One of the key goals of lean is to eliminate excess inventory in the form of raw materials, work-in-process and finished goods.
The concepts of Just-In-Time Inventory Control and Kanban (Pull Production) help achieve these objectives by ensuring that product is produced only at the time and in the amount needed.
Visual devices are used in JIT to indicate min/max stocking levels for inventory. Likewise, kanban cards and other visual tools are employed within pull production systems to send production signals to upstream manufacturing processes.
