Spill Response Application

OSHA Regulations

29 CFR 1910.120(j)(vii)(1997) Requires you to have DOT specified containers and absorbent material in areas where spills may occur.

epa regulations:

Requires you to have contingency plans on file for "worst case discharge" in the event of a spill

Major considerations:

Anticipating the volume of a "worst case discharge" spill will help you determine how many kits of what capacity rating are required.

The type of liquid that could spill will depermine if you need a Universal, Oil Only, or Chemical spill kit. When all are possible, you should defer to Chemical as a worst case scenario.

Anticipating where spills are likely to occur will help you determine if you need a mobile kit or one situatied/installed at high potential spill sites.

It is best practice to use a "single use" pilfer proof kit versus a refillable kit.
