How to Name UID Data with Data Qualifiers

Naming data with data identifiers, application identifiers and text element identifiers

To encode the data elements into the 2D DataMatrix, the data elements must be named using data qualifiers.

According to MIL-STD-130N, a data qualifier is a character (or string of characters), that follows a data field to name the data elements. The data qualifier tells the imaging device what type of data to expect.

According to DFARS 252.211-7003, there are three types of data qualifiers.

  1. Data Identifiers (DI's - Format 06)
  2. Application Identifiers (AI's - Format 05)
  3. Text Element Identifiers (TEI's - Format 12)

The following table gives common data qualifiers for IUID usage. Please refer to the Construct 1, Construct 2 or the IUID Equivalent that you are using when referring to this table.
