How to Mark Products: UII Marking Instructions

DoD requirements for applying the UII mark

How to Mark with Brady IP Printer According to MIL-STD-130N, the required UII mark may be applied to an identification plate, band, tag, or label.

About the UII Marking:

The UII marking should be applied in such a way that it does not interfere with the item's normal use. Marking materials that could affect the item’s performance should not be used.

All UII markings must be permanent for the life of the item; they should be able to withstand environmental tests and cleaning procedures that the item endures throughout its life.

The DoD also provides specific standards for the quality of the UII mark. To learn more about the print quality and marking requirements, see the MIL-STD-130N Requirements.

Brady has a variety of materials for UII marking and other DoD UID needs. To learn more about our labels for UII markings, please see Brady DoD UID System: Label Materials.
