To foster a collaborative, innovative culture, Brady’s engineering teams organize their own developer conferences and hack-a-thons. With engineers driving the events, the results are uniquely Brady-focused conversations and experiences that give employees the opportunity to learn from one another and think freely about solutions for Brady’s customers.
Twice a year, software and chemical engineers join Brady product managers for a three-day event to explore and present proof-of-concepts for ideas that aren’t on product roadmaps. At the end of the three days, the ideas and prototypes are reviewed by product managers and evaluated for their viability and prospects. The resulting showcase of technologies also sparks follow-up thoughts after the event.
Since 2019, Brady’s software and firmware teams have held an employee-led and organized developer conference called “Decompiled,” which refers to the process of converting a machine language or code into a format understandable to human users like software programmers.
“This is an event for engineers, by engineers,” says Subbu Ramanathan, Director - Web & Software Development, Brady Camden. “It's yet another way we are able to show that Brady values and supports the development of our software and firmware teams.”
Attendees present on topics like using different software and analytics models, understanding their users and stakeholders, testing fundamentals and more.
